After a successful run at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) held last year, The Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2016: Reflections series will serve as the official opening film of this year’s Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival.
This co-production by TIFF and the Japan Foundation Asia Center is a triptych of compelling stories set in Asia, one of which is Brilliante Mendoza‘s Shiniuma Dead Horse. Top-billed by Lou Veloso, it tells the story of an illegal Filipino immigrant who returns home for the first time after being deported from Japan. Since then, Shiniuma Dead Horse has also made its mark in other international film festivals.
Catch this masterpiece, along with Isao Yukisada‘s Pigeon (Japan) and Sotho Kulikar‘s Beyond the Bridge (Cambodia). Reflections will be shown at 6:00pm on March 9, 2017 in SM Aura Premier, as part of the Sinag Maynila 2017 Opening Ceremonies.
Sinag Maynila 2017 will run from March 9 to 14 at the following theaters: SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, Glorietta, and Gateway. This year’s festival is held in cooperation with Metrobank and our official media partners, InqPOP!
